This artist needed a vibrant, inspiring studio with all of her art supplies visible. We started by taking every single item out of drawers and cubbies and laid on the floor to understand the inventory and how it should be categorized. Then we sourced antique storage structures to create a beautiful, architecturally interesting storage wall. We ordered a bookshelf from Ikea to store all of her books, and added drawers in the lower cubbies for extra hidden storage. We used a label maker for all cubbies and drawers. On the opposite wall, we installed felt pinup board for the client’s ideas and creations. Our final step to complete this room was to design custom shelves in the closet. Providing more cubbies in the closet gave the client flexibility to have more things without stacking anything, so items could be easily viewed and accessed. We eliminated clutter in this space by giving everything a home, and adding labels for clarity. The final result is a quirky, functional, inspiring workspace where creativity can thrive.
